Have you ever wondered what makes someone rich? Here are a few biographies of financially successful people and what they did to get to the top.
Warren Buffet
Warren Buffet has been referred to as a financial sage and wizard. His strategy involves buying and holding on to stocks in solid, conservatively-financed, major companies. Swimming against the popular current of buying and selling with the rise and fall of prices, Buffet is a big believer in the power of conservative investments and the accrual of dividends. Noting that stocks are actually a percentage of ownership in a company, Buffet only buys stocks in companies that he wants to be a part owner in. His resolution to stick to his own strategy has made him one of the wealthiest investors of all time and shows us that financially successful people are patient and grounded.
Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg is the founder of Facebook, the monolithic social media site that changed the way we think about friendship and interacting. Zuckerberg launched Facebook with the help of a few friends from his Harvard dorm room, but within a few years, it had proliferated into a massive networking site for people of all ages. Like many successful entrepreneurs before him, Zuckerberg saw a potentially good and fresh idea while capitalizing on a latent human need for communication and companionship, illustrating the strength of financially successful people to seize an opportunity wherever they find it.
Walt Disney
If there’s one name that’s synonymous with quality entertainment, it’s Disney. Today, we view Disney as a clean-cut, perfect crowd-pleaser that accommodates all ages and is always successful in every endeavour…but did you know that many of the Disney films that are bedrock material in the film industry were financial flops, including Snow White, Pinocchio, and Cinderella? In fact, the Disney Company was in the red financially for decades, until the success of Disneyland turned things around. Walt Disney shows us that financially successful people don’t give up when times are tough.
J.K. Rowling
This successful author of the wildly popular Harry Potter series was initially a broke single mom who wrote down her idea for a children’s book on the back of a napkin. Today, she’s one of the richest women in the world and has witnessed her story turned into books, movies, toys, games, and an endless variety of related products circulating around her tale of magic and the triumph of good over evil. J.K. Rowling shows us that financially successful people can leverage the power of their imagination and their personal talents (in her case, writing) to build wealth.
