The More You Know, The More Effective They Will Be
The first thing you will need to do when you have signed up with an auto-responding service, is to thoroughly read and understand the instructions given to you. Most autoresponders will have videos for you to watch – watch them all – no skipping. This may seem daunting at first, but themore you delve into the system, the easier you will find it.
The first requirement of any email campaign is to link a document from your web-site or other sources to the autoresponder,(known as a lead page) this way it will know who has “opted” in to receive your messages. Don’t forget that you must have an official opt in to be able to send people your emails. To send emails to a person who has not officially opted in is illegal and can attract a hefty fine.
Before you even enter the first word of your document, check and double check the details. Making a mistake at this point could ruin your emailing/messaging project. Don’t forget, no one will read your emails if there are consistent mistakes, or part of your message is missing.
When you feel reasonably confident with your knowledge of the system and you have completed all of the sign up information, they type your message. At first you might want to just send a few “dummy”messages to your own email addresses to ensure that part is working properly.
Once you have done this, complete your email/message that you want your customers to read. Triple check for any grammatical or spelling errors. Ensure the spacing and fonts are correct etc. In fact using a word style document to create your copy, then copying it across to the autoresponder may be the best way to go. However, check that your autoresponder can read and interpret Word formats, most will, but rather be safe than sorry.
Don’t hurry, take your time and ensure that the full message is showing up on your own email exactly
the way you want it. This process can be time consuming, but it is worth it.
Then your list of emails should be entered. Again creating your list on an external programme may be
the best way to go. Ensure all your addresses are correct.
Finally, you will have to programme the dates, times and frequency you want your emails to be sent.
This is probably one of the most time consuming parts, but it is essential these are correct.
